So it is proposed to build thousands of new homes in Oxford in addition to the thousands that have been built in recent years in large and small projects.
Yet those in power seem not to realise that every addition, directly or indirectly, adds to the traffic problem.
In addition to housing, work places create traffic.
For instance, Headington has five major hospitals – which are still expanding – plus Brookes University.
As a result, a large percentage of fuel used is while stationary or crawling, making Oxford’s pollution unnecessarily high.
Pollution damages the environment including the health of the inhabitants.
Surely a reassessment should be made of the overall situation in this area.
