PLANS to charge for long stay parking at the Thornhill and Water Eaton park and ride sites are due to be decided today.
Oxford County Council officers have recommended the proposals are approved, despite scores of objections.
The council wants to introduce a £3 charge for anyone parking for more than 11 hours up to 24 hours.
Each subsequent day would then cost £3, with a maximum overall stay of 72 hours.
The council also wants to increase the amount motorists who overstay their welcome are fined from £40 to £100.
The charges are being introduced to plug a £150,000 funding gap in the council’s budget.
A report to cabinet says 111 responses were received after a consultation into the plans was launched.
The council cabinet is due to make a decision at a meeting at 2pm today.
