THE CITY’S fashionistas were dressed to impress as they tried to land a catwalk spot at Oxford Fashion Week.
The Old Fire Station in George Street was a hive of activity on Friday night as hundreds of young people attended an open public casting.
Students at Oxford University were also trying to seal a modelling place for the fashion week at a second casting event on Saturday.
Oxford Fashion Week runs from Monday, November 5, to Sunday, November 11.
Among the hopefuls was Jamie Unwin, 17, from Oxford. He said: “I thought I’d try it out and see if I could get into the event – it would be pretty cool if I could be a model.”
Fashion week Organiser Nick Seagrave said: “We are delighted with the turnout.”
The fashion week focuses on showcasing the latest collections from some of the world’s most sought after designers, and names such as Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson and Valentin Yudashkin have all graced its catwalks in recent years.
