YOUNG children at Christ Church Cathedral School in Oxford took a step back in time yesterday. More than 40 pre-preparatory pupils experienced a Victorian Day, attending school dressed in costumes from that era.
They found out the kind of jobs which children were expected to do in those days and handled artefacts from classrooms which were used by Victorian children.
Pamela Allen, head of pre-prep, helped coordinate the event and said: “I think the children had a great time.
“We have three classes and each has taken part in three activities, a Victorian classroom, carrying out domestic chores and making Victorian toys such as rag dolls and peg dolls.
“As our main school is a Victorian building it all fits very well.”
