PROPOSALS have been set out to build a £5m care home on the site of a former discount store in Bicester.
Montpelier Estates will host a public exhibition next Wednesday to show off its plans for the former Winners’ site off Victoria and Linden roads. It will be the second set of care home proposals the company has put forward.
The first is a 76-bed care home for people suffering from dementia or brain injuries at a former allotment site off Skimmingdish Lane.
This latest proposal would include 60 beds for elderly people and those with dementia, and would create more than 80 full and part-time jobs.
James McGarry, of Montpelier, based in Chilton, Aylesbury, said the Skimmingdish Lane project was on-going but was making slow progress.
The former allotment land in Skimmingdish Lane, owned by the Oxford Diocese, already has outline planning permission for office accommodation.
The care home would be built on half of the diocesan site. If it gets the go-ahead, the care home there would create about 70 jobs.
The exhibition for the former Winners site takes place at the site, from 3pm to 7.30pm.
