Sir, I read the letter by Noam Bleicher (October 20), relating to the outrageous disruption caused by the roadworks at various locations in and around Oxford.

The only outrageous disruption would be his proposals for the works to be carried out from 6am till 6pm or better still 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

How wonderful for the residents living nearby to have to endure that preposterous suggestion, and be subject to the noise and lighting 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Bravo. I suggest that people should allow for the roadworks and use the grey matter in their heads to rise a little earlier in the morning to be able to reach their destination or place of work in time, taking into account the delays they may incur on the way due to the necessary alterations to our highways. Or better still find alternative transport.
