THREE people arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Abingdon Road, Drayton, on Sunday, have been released on police bail.

The men, aged 18 and 25 and a 15-year-old youth, have been bailed to return on January 4, 2007.

They were arrested after a 17-year-old boy died in a two-car crash on the main road through Drayton.

A white Ford Escort and a red Ford Sierra crashed at about 11pm on Sunday in Abingdon Road, near the junction with Crabtree Lane.

The Sierra spun out of control, crossed the road, mounted a kerb, hit a parked car and demolished a brick wall before coming to rest on the path on its side.

The Sierra passenger died from his injuries in the early hours of Monday at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. His name has not yet been released.

The car knocked down the wall outside the house of Bob and Gill Fincham. One of their two cars parked outside off road in front of their home was hit by the Sierra.

Mr Fincham, a senior Royal Mail manager at Oxford, said: '"We had just gone to bed when we heard this almighty crash. We looked out of the window and saw the car on its side. By the time I had dressed and gone down outside there were other people trying to help out.'' Mrs Fincham said: "We were sad to learn that he had died, so I put a pot of flowers at the scene in memory of him. It was a simple gesture.

"We're parents ourselves and we feel for the family of the man.''

  • The youth was the second person to die in a road accident in Oxfordshire on Sunday.

A man in his 30s died at the scene of a single vehicle accident near Great Coxwell, Faringdon, at 5pm. He was a passenger in a silver-coloured Mazda 6 which left the road 100 metres near the Oakfield roundabout. The driver was taken to Swindon's Great Western Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In another smash, between Marcham and Hinksey Hill at just after 2pm on Sunday, three men, all believed to be in their mid 20s, were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious injuries.
