Every year Oxford City Council puts up crescent moon and star illuminations in Cowley Road to mark the end of Ramadan.
But not a single flicker marks Christmas in East Oxford.
Yet if one takes in the area enclosed by St Clement's, Gipsy Lane, Magdalen Road and Iffley Road alone, there are some 14 places of active Christian worship.
These include churches, chapels, religious communities, a theological college, and large congregations which meet in hired school halls on Sundays.
So why cannot East Oxford have some Christmas lights?
Or does Oxford City Council's multiculturalism not embrace Christianity?
Here's another fine example of New Labour's two-facedness.
