OXFORD'S Miss England winner was relieved to be back home last night after rowing with her dance teacher in the Miss Europe competition.

For the past fortnight, Eleanor, 20, from Sandford-on-Thames, has been competing in the Miss Europe pageant in Kiev, Ukraine.

Miss France won the title, with Miss Ukraine coming second and Miss Spain third, in the final beamed by satellite into the homes of millions of TV viewers on Friday night.

But Miss Glynn said her experience at Miss Europe had not been a happy one, thanks to the harsh treatment she received from her dance teacher.

She said: "The dance teacher was so rude - she made me cry several times because she was just so awful - I think she must have been in the Army at one point because she was always shouting.

"I can't dance to save my life, and she said she couldn't believe I was representing England and that because I could not dance I must be an idiot. I stood up to her and said 'don't talk to me like that' and the Miss England staff complained.

"I was not chosen for the final 12 of the competition and I'm sure the confrontation I had with the dance teacher did not help, but it was the girls who were the best dancers who were chosen for the final 12.

"I really enjoyed competing in Miss World earlier this year but Miss Europe was more like being in X-Factor rather than a beauty pageant.

"It was hard work - sometimes we were up at six and we were rehearsing dance routines until one in the morning."

Miss Glynn's next engagement is not such a glamorous one - she has been hired to publicise Camelot's new "Green" lottery ticket, which is made from recycled paper, at Drayton recycling centre near Abingdon on Wednesday.
