THE flyaway parrot that landed on the shoulder of Kidlington man Spencer Terry is still waiting to be claimed by her owner.

But the Green Amazon bird had a weekend of luxury at Mr Terry's Queens Avenue home - enjoying roast potatoes during Sunday lunch and getting to know the family's other pet parrots Alf and Charlie.

And delivery driver Mr Terry, 55, with the new arrival, said he would keep it and call her Stella if no one came forward to claim her.

He said: "I had a few calls over the weekend from people who had lost birds, but none of them were her owners.

"If no one claims her, she will have a lovely home here. I will buy her a bigger cage and she couldn't wish for a better place to be.

"I have been thinking what to call her if I do keep her - at least I think she is a she - and thought I would name her Stella, because I am drinking a Stella Artois beer now."

Mr Terry, who lives with his wife Valerie and 13-year-old daughter Louise, had been out walking the family's Staffordshire bull terrier, Buster, when he heard someone call out "hello sweetie".

It turned out to be the parrot, which landed on his shoulder.
