COUNCILLORS have approved plans to redevelop the Bradlands sheltered housing site in Marston. The Oxford City Council plan will see the current flats demolished and 39 flats for elderly residents built at the Mill Lane site.

East area planning members approved the application last night. Councillors were concerned about the number of car park spaces – 14 – at the site and said parking provision should be reviewed in the future.

Old Marston parish council had raised concerns about the proposal. Chairman Charlie Haynes called the application a “monstrosity” and was concerned at it being in the Old Marston Conservation Area.
