WITH regard to your recent headline about the Barton West project and contact with Freiburg, I remember a couple of years ago suggesting a tramway system in Oxford, which you published in a letter at the time.
I had a very courteous reply from Bob Price saying that it was too expensive. I had previously mentioned that a German city, very similar to Oxford, had replaced its last bus route in its city centre by a tram route, mainly for environmental reasons. Yes, you’ve guessed it – that city was Freiburg! I see Bob Price is still in office. Food for thought.
