OXON: More than £35,000 is set to be handed out by Oxfordshire County Council to village and parish halls.
Six venues are set to share £35,400 from Oxfordshire County Council.
They include £10,000 for the £231,000 project to extend and refurbish South Leigh Village Hall in West Oxfordshire.
South Leigh Parish Council chairman Nicky Brooks said she was delighted.
She said: “It will really help towards our ultimate aim of refurbishing our village hall.
“It is very old and inefficient, horribly damp, cold and miserable.”
Other projects set to get county council cash are:
- £10,000 for Cholsey’s hall
- £6,000 towards a kitchen revamp at Grove village hall
- £6,000 towards car park resurfacing at Milton-under-Wychwood village hall.
- £3,400 towards a demountable stage and chairs at Oxford Asian Centre.
Judy Heathcoat, cabinet member for safer and stronger communities, will be asked to approve the grants today.
