READERS will remember the USA ‘shock and awe’ in Iraq to bring down Saddam’s regime. It occurs to me that Assad is using the same tactics to rid Syria of the insurgents – he says he is using “overwhelming force to get his way”. The question is will he do it?
The Arab Spring has much to answer for.
