JOB seekers lapped up the advice, and free ice creams, when the National Careers Service set up a roadshow in Oxford.
Careers advisers were in Bonn Square on Thursday as part of a tour of 20 towns and cities around the UK.
Road show manager Shona Mathew said the tour, featuring trained careers advisers, started last month.
She added: “The National Careers Service was launched by the Government in April to give people advice on jobs, training, skills and careers.
“There is a website, and a telephone line which people can call, and they can also speak to advisers face-to-face in their local Jobcentre or library after making an appointment.
“We thought handing out ice creams would be a good way of raising awareness of the service and and encouraging people to come and talk to our advisers.
“We gave away 750 leaflets and ice creams in Bonn Square and people enjoyed them in the sunshine.”
Among those who took the opportunity to chat to advisers were Dexter Murray, 18, from Oxford, Matt Wheeler, 20, from Brize Norton, and Kim Caldicott from Carterton.
