Five adults and three children escaped a kitchen fire unhurt, thanks to a smoke alarm.
Two fire crews were called to Chestnut Avenue, Headington, at about 3.45pm on Tuesday.
Firefighter Nik Brown said: “The working smoke alarm gave the occupiers of the house an immediate warning of fire, giving them the chance to get out quickly.
“Make sure your smoke alarm works and remember to have a fire plan.”
