OXFORD: A benefit cheat who dishonestly claimed more than £5,600 has been fined and ordered to pay back the money.
Omar Green, of Brambling Way, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, dishonestly claimed £5,665.47 in housing benefit and jobseeker’s allowance from Oxford City Council and the Department for Work and Pensions between October 6, 2010 and March 5, 2012.
He admitted the charges and was sentenced at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The 34-year-old was fined £400 and ordered to pay £425 costs, and will also have to repay the full amount.
