VOLUNTEERS have pitched in to help spruce up a West Oxfordshire community garden.
The Wychwood Volunteer Garden is a community owned and run garden and woodland in Shipton-under-Wychwood.
Last week, volunteers, including Jacinta Thurlow and Jill Mavin, pictured, helped maintain and improve 500 yards of paths that had been washed out in the summer’s wet weather.
They regravelled the main hard paving through the garden and laid new wood chippings on the woodland path.
Garden chairman Mike Watson said: “Volunteers are the only way the garden will be maintained and 17 volunteers is a fantastic response on a relatively overcast day. Our vision is to create a place that people want to go – either to enjoy themselves and relax, or to admire the woodland.”
The garden organises three or four volunteer days a year.
