It is excellent news that the real stars of an annual competition to recognise the best of the county's green projects were young people.
When youngsters are so often stereotyped as anti-social, binge-drinking, hoodie-wearing thugs, it is welcome to be able to paint a different picture of young people with a real desire to make the county a cleaner and better place.
This year, the impressive number of children taking part in the Oxfordshire Sustainability and Conservation Awards shows that the message about sustainability is getting through to the young.
