The annual fireworks display in Oxford's South Park should go with an extra bang this year after the owner of a bangers and mash restaurant paid for the bulk of the fireworks.
Max Mason, of the Big Bang in Walton Street, Oxford, has sponsored the 39th annual celebration, run by the Oxford Round Table, which raises thousands of pounds for charity.
The explosive night out is on Saturday, November 4, with gates to the park, off Morrell Avenue, opening at 5pm and the display starting at 6.30pm.
The event is one of the biggest charity fundraisers in the city's calendar, attracting more than 12,000 people and raising about £25,000 for Oxford charities.
But two years ago, organisers said rising costs were causing hardship.
Mr Mason said: "I wanted to pay for the bulk of the fireworks so that any money from visitors will go straight to charity. It's going to be a great night."
The sky will be filled with a choreographed fireworks display costing more than £10,000, followed by a bonfire.
The park will also have food stalls, including sausage and mash from the Big Bang, and a fun fair.
Last year, thousands of people flocked to South Park to mark the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes Night.
Advance tickets cost £12 for a family pass, £5 for a single and are available from the Big Bang, Shepherd & Woodward in High Street and Summertown, Walters in Turl Street, Ecco in New Inn Hall Street and Johnson's Buildbase in Cowley. They will also be available on the gates.
Anyone willing to volunteer on the evening should contact the Round Table via www.roundtable.co.uk or the Big Bang on 01865 511441.
