OXFORD City Council will be rewarding six Barton householders with £50 in shopping vouchers if they place their blue recycling bin out each fortnight and the food caddy out each week.
It is part of the Cleaner, Greener Barton campaign which aims to improve the cleanliness of the neighbourhood.
Councillor John Tanner board member for a Cleaner, Greener Oxford, said: “This is a thank you to all the households using the recycling services properly. We hope it encourages people to recycle more as during the campaign there is a chance of winning £50 worth of shopping vouchers.”
The recycling prize draw began on Tuesday, July 24, and will be running for another five weeks.
Bassett Road resident Mrs Robson was the first winner.
She said: “It is lovely to win £50. The recycling service is so easy to use and it’s much better than before.
“We can now compost all our food waste from our front door rather than taking it to the allotment.”
The Cleaner, Greener campaign began in 2009 and has been taken to communities such as Blackbird Leys, East Oxford and Jericho.
