BURGLARS fled a quick-thinking pensioner's home after he became suspicious and set off his personal alarm.
The two men walked in the pensioner's home in Trendell Road, Abingdon, through an unlocked door at 12.20pm last Thursday.
They told the man they were carrying out some essential work and he should wait in the kitchen - but he became suspicious and set off a personal alarm.
Both distraction burglars escaped but managed to steal £5 before they fled.
Det Con Jon Shaw, of Abingdon police, said: "These thieves walked uninvited into an elderly man's home and stole from him.
"Fortunately he was not hurt in any way but he was left feeling vulnerable and upset."
The first burglar is described as white, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall, with dark hair wearing a white T-shirt, dark trousers and black gloves.
The second man is white and aged between 30 and 40.
Anyone with information should ring Det Con Shaw on 08458 505 505.
