Why do people in authority who are meant to be above us peasants act without a little forethought before coming to their decisions?
We are soon to be blessed with more CCCs (cash cow cameras), no doubt stategically placed to generate maximum income instead of being used for safety reasons.
This new breed of camera will photograph a car entering a restricted zone and do the same when exiting.
A little man will then work out your average speed on his abacus between these two points and if the vehicle is over the limit, a fine will wing its way to the driver through the post before he gets home.
Now here's the stupid bit.
The cameras are only linked in the same lane and do not talk to cameras in other lanes.
Therefore it is perfectly safe, though not advised, to enter a camera zone at 100mph, switch lanes midway through and exit the zone at 200mph.
As the cameras are not linked, no offence will be recorded.
I'm not giving secrets away here as these facts have been noted in the national press.
The net result will be that most drivers will err on the side of caution and switch lanes halfway through, just to be on the safe side.
The resultant shambles will make dodgem cars look like the Lord Mayor's parade.
I foresee that more accidents will occur because of this and, far from making the roads safer, I believe the opposite will happen.
I'm just glad that I am not smart enough to get a job in a position of authority.
