We fully support the new campaign launched this week to persuade people to support homeless charities, rather than give cash to beggars in the street.
It is estimated some beggars can make £20 to £30 per day in the city, but most goes on drugs or alcohol.
Begging is largely built on the misplaced goodwill of students and visitors to the city.
We are fortunate in Oxford that we have a range of organisations dedicated to helping the homeless. If you want to help, then support them.
