NINE-YEAR-OLD twins Hope and Imogen Brinkley had no regrets after getting their ponytails cut off for charity.
The twins got a new look at Reflections hair salon in Abbott Road, Didcot, last month to raise about £500 for the Little Princess Trust.
Mum Karen Brinkley-Pearce, 36, of Oxford Crescent, Didcot, said: “Imogen donated 10 inches of hair and Hope eight inches. The hair has been sent to the Little Princess Trust to be made into wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment.
“Reflections hairdressers cut their hair for free and also made a donation — I’m so proud of both the girls.”
Imogen said: “I got the idea for this when I found the Little Princess Trust on Google.”
Hope added: “I really like my new haircut and I want another child to enjoy my hair as much as I did.”
Hairdresser Katie Blake, 24, from East Hagbourne, cut the girls’ hair. Reflections staff member Charley Down, 16, said: “The girls came in and they loved getting their hair done.
“They seemed really pleased with their new haircuts and how they looked afterwards.
“Raising money for the charity and sending their ponytails off for wigs is such a lovely thing to do.”
Wendy Tarplee-Morris, 34, founded the Hereford-based Little Princess Trust in 2006 in memory of her daughter Hannah Tarplee, who died aged five in 2005, after suffering from Wilms’ tumour, which affected her kidney.
Ms Tarplee-Morris said: “We gratefully receive hair donations and encourage people to raise money to buy wigs for children.
“When children undergo cancer treatments including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, they can lose their hair. Hospitals put families in touch with us. We have helped more than 1,200 children.”
