A JURY at Oxford Crown Court today found a lorry driver guilty by a majority verdict of causing death by dangerous driving on the A34 at Botley.
Richard Brown, 55, from Cheshire, was also convicted yesterday of dangerous driving in the incident which caused the death of another lorry driver John Kilty, 46, of Co Durham. Brown will be sentenced on December 4.
After six hours of deliberations, jurors yesterday found Brown, guilty of dangerous driving following an incident on the A34 on December 14, 2004.
Brown had parked his vehicle on the inside lane of the dual carriageway, about 500m from the slip road for the Botley Interchange, to phone for directions.
Another lorry driver, Peter Smith, failed to see Brown's lorry and ploughed into it, knocking it off the side of the road.
Mr Smith's lorry then tipped over across both lanes before a third driver, John Kilty, of County Durham, crashed his car transporter into it. Mr Kilty suffered fatal injuries.
