THESE war veterans were enjoying a day out with their wives.
They were members of the Oxford branch of the Royal Tank Regiment Association.
The party is pictured at the Tank Museum at Bovington, Dorset, which gives visitors a fascinating insight into the history of tanks and their crews.
The picture comes from Bert Dowler, of Bodicote Road, Banbury, who served with the regiment during the Second World War in the UK and in North-West Europe.
He founded the branch 52 years ago and it is still going strong.
One unmistakable figure in the back row is Canon Norwyn Macdonald Ramm, known universally as ‘Mac’. He was the City Rector, Vicar of St Michael at the Northgate Church in Oxford, and padre to the branch.
He is the tall man in the glasses and dark shirt, in front of the body of the tank.
We are not sure when the picture above was taken. Does anyone recall the visit?
