THE boy in charge of this stall at a rummage sale at John Bunyan Baptist Church seems a little overwhelmed. Customers besieged his table to snap up goods on offer in 1969.
The middle picture was taken at a party to mark the closure of Cowley Barracks in 1959. Sergeant G Wall, third from the left, who had been in charge of the officers’ mess, is seen receiving a silver cigarette box. Others present were, left to right, Captain J St C Simmonds, Brigadier RJ Brett, Major John Ballard, Lieutenant Colonel F Clare and Lieutenant Colonel M Darell-Brown.
The bottom picture dates from 1992 when a giant Scalextric set at Templars Square shopping centre attracted huge interest from young boys.
