KIDLINGTON: A £24,000 cycle track has given cyclists something to cheer about.

The path runs between Oxford Road and Crown Road past the Exeter Hall and links residential areas with the village centre.

It was jointly funded by Kidlington Parish Council, which owns the land, Oxfordshire County Council and the South East England Development Agency.

Rodney Rose, the county council’s cabinet member for transport, said: “I know the path is already proving popular and anything that encourages people to make journeys by bicycle is obviously good for exercise as well as the environment.”

The route, which has been landscaped, links up with National Cycle Route 51 which runs between Colchester and Oxford.
