SIX men charged with involvement in a child sex ring appeared by video link at the Old Bailey yesterday as it emerged more charges are imminent.

The men were due to enter pleas to more than 65 charges yesterday but will now do so in August as the Operation Bullfinch inquiry continues.

More suspects on bail are due to report to police stations next week with further charges expected.

Mohammed Karrar, Bassan Karrar, Akhtar Dogar, Anjun Dogar and Kamar Jamil sat together in front of a prison camera linking them to the court in London. Zeshan Ahmed appeared on his own from Bedford Prison via a separate screen.

All six spoke only to confirm their names.

Neil Moore, prosecuting, told Judge Peter Rook: “I don’t ask that the indictment (list of charges) be put (to the defendants) today.

He added: “It seems sensible if the indictment is slimmed down somewhat.”

Mr Moore indicated two more men are set to be charged as he spoke of holding a trial for “all eight together” or two trials, with five and three defendants.

Judge Rook ordered a day-long plea hearing on Friday August 3, and fixed a provisional trial date of Wednesday, September 26.
