EIGHT years ago Lisa Potter was a struggling single mum, but last night she was planning her first holiday in six years after a £1.3m bingo win.
The lucky 33-year-old, from Witney, won the bumper payout in an online Ladbrokes game on Thursday evening.
She is already planning what to splash the cash on but has pledged to use most of it for her children’s future.
The mum-of-three said: “Just the feeling of never having to worry again is amazing.
“We have got our eye on a new house and a new car, but just to be able to have the kids’ future sorted is the main thing. Being able to afford their schooling and university without problems is something we would never have been able to afford before.”
She added: “We had a mirror up on the wall that came down and broke two weeks ago and at the time I said that is it, seven years’ bad luck.
“But since then it has just been good luck.”
Ms Potter, who is a housewife, has two children, aged 12 and 14 from a previous relationship, and a six-year-old with her husband, Terry Goodman, 36.
The couple have been together for eight years and married at St Mary’s Church in Witney last year. Mr Goodman earns about £30,000 a year as a mechanic in the town.
Ms Potter said: “I was a single mum for a while and that was a struggle. I got together with my partner eight years ago and he has worked every hour God sent to put food on the table and provide for the children.”
She added: “I have always put the children first, so I do believe I might have a shopping trip. I have not had a holiday in six years and would love to visit my friend in Gran Canaria. I have never been on a plane, so I need to get over my fear of flying.
“But the money is for the future. I do not plan on squandering it.”
Ms Potter was at home with on Thursday evening when she suddenly decided to play the online bingo game.
She said: “I have no idea what possessed me to play. I only play now and again and it is normally on a Friday.”
When she found out she had won, she said: “It was so surreal. I was trying to phone my mum and I could not get my mobile to work. I had to get the kids to use the house phone.”
She won £1,364,745.23 from the £5 gamble – the third highest jackpot win in the history of the game.
