Scouts were given a helping hand to ensure they were ready for the camping season.

Bicester Round Table and Ladies Circle jointly donated £1,250 to 7th Bicester Scout Group to buy a new trailer for transporting equipment.

The group, made up of 70 young people, had raised £2,250 from fundraising activities including car washing at Bicester Avenue.

But the group were still short of the £3,500 needed to buy the trailer this year — until the Round Table and Ladies Circle stepped in.

The group recently tested out their new trailer for the first time during a camping trip to the New Forest, in Hampshire.

Mr Sawyer said: “The group are very grateful for the financial support from the Ladies Circle and Round Table towards the purchase of our new camping trailer.

“The new trailer has replaced our old trailer that was fast reaching the end of its usable life.

“The Scouts have been raising money over the winter, undertaking car washing, thanks to Bicester Avenue, and a stall at the Christmas lights switch-on.

“With the new trailer it will mean transporting camping equipment will be that much easier.”
