YOU have recently carried a number of stories about dangerous cyclists.

How about some balance?

Here goes: on Wednesday morning, in Kennington, a pedestrian walked straight across the road without looking.

I just managed to swerve and nearly fell off.

Had I been injured would she have been insured? Would she have been prosecuted?

A couple of weeks ago, I narrowly avoided a really serious injury or death.

On Folly Bridge I was between the pavement and a car. A pedestrian stepped into the road a few feet in front of me. I had nowhere to go.

I hit both the car and pedestrian but managed not to fall. Nobody was hurt. I will leave near-death experiences from idiots in cars for another time (yes, I do have a car).
