MARTIN Roberts’ point (Wednesday’s Oxford Mail ViewPoints) about what would happen if teachers ‘forgot’ a pupil or two on a school outing is well-made.

It might also be worth recalling how many families in Oxford, and beyond, are currently subsisting in relative poverty and so couldn’t, in a month of Sundays, contemplate a Sunday pub lunch, or a Saturday pub lunch for that matter, and, as recent reports have shown, an increasing number of children are arriving at school hungry, because of limited resources at home.

Still, it must be hoped that the Camerons at the very least enjoy their regular culinary outings.
