ANOTHER reader has contacted The Oxford Times with a story of seeing a cat-like creature near her home.
When health care assistant Sue Porter saw other readers' tales of big cat sightings near Faringdon, Yarnton and Charlbury, it triggered memories of her experiences about six months ago.
Mrs Porter, of Austin Place, Abingdon, said: "I often wake up in the night and it was about two or three in the morning. I looked across the garage and saw what looked like a dog. Then I looked closer and it was definitely a cat.
"When I told my husband, Andy, he said he had seen the same thing."
Mr Porter, 61, added his story: "It was out in the front of the garages across the road. It certainly wasn't a domestic cat and wasn't a dog.
"We've had dogs and you can tell a dog from its silhouette and it had a longer tail than a dog. It was black and about the size of a springer spaniel."
Their house looks out to some fields on the edge of the Dunmore Farm estate in Abingdon, but they both saw it on the estate about 200 metres from their house. Mrs Porter said the bins had been put out for the next day's delivery and it was prowling around the rubbish bags.
The Porters' description fits a sighting by Jo Naylor, of Carswell, near Faringdon, about two weeks ago.
