A LACK of new blood at Wallingford’s oldest Rotary club has forced it to close.
The Rotary Club of Wallingford raises £14,000 a year for charity and was formed in 1966.
But it will hold its last meeting on June 25.
Club president Denzil Gould cited several factors, including an ageing membership and the inability to recruit new ones.
Mr Gould, 71, from Cholsey, said: “The average age of our members is about 74 and if you want to keep organising fundraising events you need people with new energy and new ideas to come forward.
Some members could switch to the Rotary Club of Sinodun which meets every Tuesday night at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel.
