Families got into the swing of things at the Oxford United charity day.

U’s fans young and old enjoyed some high adventure fun at the High Ropes Oxford tree-top adventure centre near Culham.

Adrenaline junkies got their fix with a host of activities including a tree-top rope adventure course, a 42ft parachute simulator jump and laser gaming and archery.

Among those enjoying the fun was eight-year-old Ollie Haddrell and brother Tom, 10, who plays in the Oxford United under-11s squad.

Mother Kim Haddrell said: “It has been great, we have had a really fantastic day.

“The boys have really enjoyed it as this kind of thing is right up their street.”

Ollie said: “I have had a brilliant day.”

Players from the Oxford United Girls youth team were among those who enjoyed the 42ft parachute jump, and children of all ages hurtled across the rope bridges, tarzan swings and zip slides.

Money raised from the day is yet to be totted up, but looks set to top £5,000 and will go towards United’s Youth and Community Trust.

The trust provides football sessions for schools and runs holiday courses and evening soccer centres.

Trust marketing manager Gemma Drewett said: “We have worked it out and there were around 500 people here today.

“We’d like to thank all of the families who came along and to also thank High Ropes Oxford for donating the whole day to us.

“It has been great and we are over the moon with how well it has gone.”
