Sir, John Rainford, manager of Didcot Power Station, tells us that RWE npower is now burning bio-fuels at Didcot. He acknowledges that this will add 20 lorries a day to the power station traffic. Twenty 20-tonne loads a day is all that is needed to take away Didcot's waste coal ash (PFA), which RWE npower insists has to be dumped in the Thrupp Lake at Radley.

One of RWE npower's main arguments for dumping at Radley is that not doing so would add unacceptably to lorry traffic. In fact, as this latest news shows, RWE npower is perfectly happy to add to the traffic when it suits them. Please could Mr Rainford now explain to us why the lorries, which will be delivering bio-fuels to Didcot Power Station could not be used to take Didcot's surplus PFA away when they leave?
