AN ELDERLY woman disturbed two masked burglars who fled empty-handed after breaking into her home in Bodicote.

The men broke through the side gate and forced open the rear patio doors while the victim was asleep upstairs. The elderly woman woke up and disturbed the offenders who left without taking anything.

The burglars were both men, one of large build in his 30s, about 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a stocking on his head, light coloured trainers, a blue tracksuit top and black rubbery gloves. The second is slimmer and was wearing dark clothing, also with a stocking on his head.

The break-in happened between 9.45pm and 9.50pm on Friday.

PC Jane May, based at Banbury Police Station, said: "This is an especially nasty incident which has left the victim, who suffers from arthritis and heart problems, frightened and vulnerable and I urge anyone with any information to please get in touch."
