I am in some agreement with Mr Oates regarding the so-called NHS reforms.
I have been a regular cancer patient at the Churchill hospital for 12 years and I must say that I have the highest regard for the medical staff at the hospital, but the recent changes to the administration at the hospital leave a lot to be desired.
In the past appointments were handled by the respective departments which always gave you the reassurance that you were speaking to someone with some understanding of your situation and you were treated with the relevant compassion.
Now it’s all handled by a central appointment office who have no idea if you are calling on a matter of importance or an ingrowing toenail (no disrespect) and you just get bogged down with red-tape. After a recent annual examination I was told that my cancer might have returned.
It then took seven weeks to get a follow-up examination and a further wait for the results.
Under the old system this would not happen and you would not have been given the run-around because you would be talking direct to people who know your situation and the stresses involved.
I feel there are two main concerns with the NHS at the moment: (1) David Cameron and his band of fat-walleted highway men intent on privatising the NHS (2) The amount of non-nationals flooding our hospitals which our taxes have supported for years.
If we are not very careful we will lose this fantastic institution.
Name and address supplied l SO Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg is trying once again to make an impact, by wanting to have an elected house in the House of Lords.
If this were to happen Labour leader Ed Miliband would back the move but wants a referendum first.
Funny really, they could have a referendum, just like that, to decide the fate of the House of Lords and yet everyone was refused a referendum when such a big issue as the EU cropped up.
Every adult had the right to vote on this. We were refused and now look at the mess we are in.
Chancellor George Osborne has given £10bn to the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and we are not in the Euro.
It just shows how stupid they get when handling tax payers’ money.
