A COMBINE harvester was left hanging over the edge of the A34 yesterday after a crash with a lorry.
Recovery work was due to take place last night after the crash caused problems for motorists in the area through the afternoon.
The lorry and combine harvester collided with each other on the southbound carriageway at the Peartree Interchange shortly before 1.50pm. The harvester struck a barrier over the southbound A34 slip road and was left hanging over the edge.
One lane of the carriageway remained closed for much of the afternoon.
One person, believed to be the driver of the combine harvester, was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital for minor injuries.
Another collision, between a Stagecoach X5 Oxford to Cambridge coach and a sewage lorry at 1.33pm near Bicester also caused traffic jams for more than two hours.
The Volvo coach and Mercedes lorry collided on the roundabout at junction 9 of the M40. Both lanes of the A34 northbound carriageway were closed while the vehicles were recovered. The bus driver was treated for minor injuries. No one else was injured.
