These are old folk who have definitely been getting into the swing of things as they enjoy the fine weather.

Residents from Marston Court Care Home, in Marston Road, took over their local children’s play area this week.

They recaptured their youth as they made the most of the day and had a go on the swings and roundabout.

Elsie Brewster, 84, was one of the old folk who was taken out to soak up the sun by the home’s activities co-ordinator Paul Lucas.

She said: “I didn’t go on the swings today – I behaved myself.

“It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. Paul is very good to us.”

Scooters were donated to the care home last summer and the residents broke them in by taking a previous sun-filled trip to the park that captured the headlines last year.

The group went for a ride along Marston Road, ending up in the Milham Ford Nature Park.

The care home, which is run by The Orders of St John Care Trust, is home to nearly 40 elderly people who are provided with residential and nursing care.

Mr Lucas said: “All together we took out around 15 of our residents.

“Most of them were in their late 80s and early 90s.

“The weather was lovely so we decided to take them out and it is important for them to get out and about.

“They had a lovely time. A bit of fresh air does them good.”

So many of the home’s residents wanted to go to the park that they had to be taken in three separate groups because there were not enough mobility scooters to go around.
