AFTER reading the comical letter from Alan Crowder (Wednesday’s ViewPoints), about Thames Water’s gripe that water shortages are due to little enough rainfall, they need to put their own house in order before blaming Mother Nature.
On passing through Islip on Tuesday, where lots of roadworks are in progress to update water mains, on my journey there and back I witnessed thousands of gallons of water running from the new installations down the road via the adjacent hill.
The resident who I visited there says it is like that most days. Don’t contractors freeze the pipes they are working on any more before opening them to join new pipes?
So come on Thames Water, stop wasting water yourselves and act responsibly over hosepipe bans.
