Two choirs are set to join forces to perform a Last Night of the Proms concert to mark two milestone anniversaries.
Banbury Choral Society is celebrating its 70th anniversary and Warriner Choral Society is celebrating its 40th year.
More than 130 singers will take part in the concert at Warriner School Hall, Bloxham, on Saturday, July 7, alongside a 50-strong orchestra.
Professional soloists will join the line-up for traditional Proms favourites including Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah, Land of Hope & Glory, and Henry Wood’s Fantasia on British Sea Songs.
Joint musical director Martin Quinn said: “One of our biggest challenges was to find a venue that could fit up to 200 performers on stage, along with an anticipated audience of more than 400 under one roof.
“We are delighted to have secured the fantastic hall at the Warriner School in Bloxham.
“Now we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a warm summer’s evening, so that our audience can relax in the evening sun, with a glass of wine during the interval.”
The milestone concert gets under way at 7.30pm and is expected to attract a flood of interest.
Tickets cost £12.50 and will be available online from MADEinCherwell.org or music shop One Man Band, in White Lion Walk, Banbury, or view banburychoralsoc.co.uk or warrinerchoralsociety.co.uk
