Leading public services supplier Amey, which has its headquarters at the Oxford Science Park, has won a five-year contract to electrify the Great Western main line between Maidenhead and Cardiff.
The contract, part of Network Rail’s £700m electrification programme, will spell the creation of 150 new jobs along the main line.
In Oxfordshire the project will involve electrifying the line from Reading to Swindon via Didcot, and the Didcot to Oxford line.
Mel Ewell, Chief Executive of Amey said: “We work in the heart of local communities so it is satisfying to help deliver a scheme that will directly benefit people living in Oxfordshire.”
