A £1-a-day treatment could slow the progression of osteo-arthritis, according to an Oxford University study.
The condition affects joints in the body and is the most common type of arthritis in the UK.
The study of 1,683 people showed that Protelos, which was developed as an anti-depressant, reduced the deterioration of the cartilage in the knee by a third, and that for every three years of treatment, progress of the disease slowed by a year.
