Cheered on by their parents, about 300 primary school pupils raced together yesterday to raise cash for charity.
The colourful mass of pupils from St Ebbe’s Primary School, in Whitehouse Road, Oxford, ran one mile for Sport Relief – and hope to have raised £1,000.
Parents and supporters lined the route through Grandpont Nature Reserve to encourage them.
Sport Relief helps people in poverty in the UK and abroad.
PE teacher Sue Whidborne, who organised the event, said: “It was not only a great way of raising money and awareness for Sport Relief, but a good way of bringing the whole community together. It was also great fun.”
On Sunday, an expected 600 people will walk a mile through Cutteslowe Park, North Oxford, for Sport Relief. The first group will set off at 11am, with triple jump Olympian Nathan Douglas starting the event.
