I’m sure you get many complaints from visitors to Oxford and I would like to share my views.
I had a very pleasant weekend in the city recently where I spent about £1,000 in the local hotels, shops and restaurants.
My stay was only marred by a confusing road system and horrendous parking with parking attendants turning us away from a “full” car park (which quite blatantly wasn’t), while others were waiting to pounce on folks who were over-staying their “welcome”.
There were also broken pay machines and a mobile payment system that was unable to cope with an overnight stay.
I was prepared to forgive all that, as I’m used to Cambridge and London after all.
But then I was greeted with a fine for straying into a bus lane, with no buses in sight, while attempting to find a very poorly signed hotel car park.
My appeal was rejected.
Suffice it to say I won’t be returning to Oxford again.
