In response to my very short letter (ViewPoints, March 8), suggesting that a more balanced view be taken about the management of the NHS by all governments, it would seem that Tim Siret can make an informed opinion about my political views.
Mr Siret then proceeds into another diatribe about the issues facing this country, on which I obviously have some views, but have never expressed them to him or in this newspaper.
May I be so bold as to form an opinion on Mr Siret’s political views, based on his numerous missives to this newspaper?
There doesn’t seem to be an institution, business, politician or leader, that he thinks isn’t guilty of mismanagement, bad decision making, poor judgment or, at worst, corruption.
Given these repeated views, it would seem that Mr Siret’s politics would have us all living in government-controlled socialist utopias.
I would again suggest that a more balanced view is taken of this country, in which democratic capitalism has delivered a standard of living, welfare, freedom of choice and expression that is arguably one of the best, if not the best, in the world, irrespective of who is in government.
It would be interesting to see Mr Siret’s manifesto if he ever stood for Parliament. I would hazard a guess that he might lose his deposit.
It is quite obvious that we may not have the same views but at least we can express them freely.
