POLICE intervened after a protest against changes to the NHS moved to the offices of a private healthcare company yesterday.
Campaigners from organisations including Keep Our NHS Public and Oxford Anti-Cuts Alliance were escorted from the Oxford offices of Atos by police.
The company is a private occupational health service provider, working to “reduce sickness absence, and increase workforce productivity”.
The protest, involving about 20 people, had initially started at Carfax, pictured, but moved to the offices in St Aldate’s.
The protest group released a statement yesterday.
It said: “Atos claims to be the largest healthcare provider outside the NHS and stands to benefit from what amounts to large-scale privatisation of the NHS.”
